Instructions
  1. Soak 3 cups of broken wheat 2 hours
  2. Cook it together with 1 cup mung dhal and 1 tsp turmeric
In a separate vessel fry masala:
  1. 1 tsp mustard seed 1 tsp cumin seed 2" cinnamon stick 4# cloves 1/4 tsp asafoetida 3 tsp ginger paste 2 # green chillies Few curry leaves
  2. Add potatoes and salt; cover and cook till 90% done
  3. Add tomatoes and 1 tsp coriander powder 1 tsp cumin powder 3 tsp jaggery grated
  4. When subji is cooked add to the kitcheri
  5. Add 3 tsp of lemon juice
  6. Add broken (1"-2") pappadam (appalam) pieces
  7. Mix well and keep covered for 10 min
