Ingredients
- 1 cup yellow mung dhal
- 3 cups Rice
- 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 tsp fennel seeds
- 1/4 tsp asafoetida
- 10 Curry leaves
- 1 cup yogurt
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1 tsp Chilli Powder
- 2 tsp Bengal gram flour (besan)
- 1/2 tsp fennel seeds
- 1/4 tsp kalonji seeds (nigella)
- 3 tsp coriander powder
- 1 tsp Chilli Powder
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1 cup raw mangoes cut
Instructions
- 1 cup yellow mung dhal 3 cups of rice & cook it.
Masala:
- 1/2 tsp mustard seeds 1 tsp cumin seeds 1 tsp fennel seeds 1/4 tsp asafoetida 10# curry leaves
- Add green beans and cook 'till half done
- Add potatoes
- When cooked add: 1 cup of yogurt 1 tsp coriander powder 1 tsp chilli powder 2 tsp Bengal gram flour (besan)
- Cook all together for another 5-10 min
- Add to cooked rice and däl - mix well
- Raw mango chutney to serve with kitcheri, 1/2 tsp
Mango chutney
- 1/4 tsp kalonji seeds (nigella) 3 tsp coriander powder 1 tsp chilli powder 1/3 cup sugar (could add little water)
- Add 1 cup of raw mangoes and cook 'till mango becomes soft
