Instructions
  1. 1 cup yellow mung dhal 3 cups of rice & cook it.
Masala:
  1. 1/2 tsp mustard seeds 1 tsp cumin seeds 1 tsp fennel seeds 1/4 tsp asafoetida 10# curry leaves
  2. Add green beans and cook 'till half done
  3. Add potatoes
  4. When cooked add: 1 cup of yogurt 1 tsp coriander powder 1 tsp chilli powder 2 tsp Bengal gram flour (besan)
  5. Cook all together for another 5-10 min
  6. Add to cooked rice and däl - mix well
  7. Raw mango chutney to serve with kitcheri, 1/2 tsp
Mango chutney
  1. 1/4 tsp kalonji seeds (nigella) 3 tsp coriander powder 1 tsp chilli powder 1/3 cup sugar (could add little water)
  2. Add 1 cup of raw mangoes and cook 'till mango becomes soft
